Bio: Maria Ly is the co-founder of Skimble. With the mission to inspire active lifestyles, Skimble provides tools for you to socially track your active life wherever you go.
Three years ago, Maria moved from Canada to California and discovered rock climbing and yoga. She embraced both activities and most recently ranked second overall in the Advanced Women’s Touchstone Climbing competition series in northern California. Maria spent half of last year in Asia being active by trekking to K2 base camp and projecting rock climbs up to 5.13a. She was inspired to develop Skimble to help her keep track of all her activities and came back to San Francisco to share it with the world.
With Skimble, Maria blends her passion for active living and technology. Before Skimble, Maria worked on international product and marketing engineering at Google, Flurry and Cypress. She holds a BASci in Computer Engineering with minors in Management Sciences and International Studies, co-operative education, from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Maria began her sports career by teaching herself to do backflips on her parent’s bed. She is a former gymnast on the Canadian national power cheer all-star team.
